MATTERS FOR RECOMMENDATION TO THE COUNCIL
LA 09/027 Health and Safety Service Plan 2009/12
The Director of Health and Housing presented the Health and Safety Service Plan 2009/2012 which set out national priorities and standards in respect of health and safety enforcement and identified how these would be delivered locally.

RECOMMENDED: That the Council adopt the Health and Safety Service Plan 2009-2012.

LA 09/028 Taxi and Private Hire Licensing - Consultation on Revised Practice Guidance
Further to Minute LA 09/018 the Central Services Director provided an update on the review of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licensing and sought the Committee's views on the proposed response to the Department for Transport's consultation on 'Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Licensing: Best Practice Guidance'.

RESOLVED: That

(1) the response to the consultation questionnaire, set out in Annex C to the report, be endorsed; and

(2) the Central Services Director be authorised to complete the full review of the taxi and private hire policy in line with the revised best practice guidance once it is issued and submit a further report to the Committee.

LA 09/029 Health and Safety Team Performance 2008-09
The report of the Director of Health and Housing set out details of the 2008/09 performance of the Council's health and safety function.

RESOLVED: That the report be received and noted.
LA 09/030 Flexible Warranting
The report of the Director of Health and Housing provided an update on the progress of the Kent and Medway Flexible Warranting Scheme which had been launched in November 2008.
