A summary of the comments received and proposed amendments to the draft Strategy were set out in Annex 1 to the report. RECOMMENDED: That the proposed amendments highlighted in Annex 1 to the report be confirmed and the amended Leisure and Arts Strategy 2008-2013 be referred to the Policy Overview Committee for consideration. |

A summary of the comments received and proposed amendments to the draft Strategy were set out in Annex 1 to the report. Proposed Christmas closure arrangements for the Council's leisure facilities were brought forward following consultation with the Buildings and Facilities Manager and taking into account essential maintenance works at individual sites. RECOMMENDED: That (1) the Christmas closure arrangements for the Council's leisure and customer service facilities, as detailed in the report, be agreed and publicised in the December edition of Here and Now and other appropriate outlets; and (2) the need to drain down the fitness pool at Tonbridge Swimming Pool be determined following an underwater survey and in liaison with the Director of Finance, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Youth and Arts and the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Leisure and Arts Advisory Board. |

The Chief Leisure Officer drew attention to the introduction of his report which provided details of the Leisure Services Business Unit's overall financial position. |

The joint report of the Chief Leisure Officer and the Cabinet Members for Leisure, Youth and Arts and Finance set out details of the outcome of the procurement exercise undertaken in accordance with European Union Regulations and the Council's Contracts Procedure Rules for the supply and maintenance of cardiovascular fitness equipment at Larkfield Leisure Centre and Angel Centre. RECOMMENDED: That (1) the contract for the supply and maintenance of cardiovascular fitness equipment at Larkfield Leisure Centre and Angel Centre (2008-2013) be awarded to Technogym (UK) Ltd in the sum of £246,216; and (2) the resale of the existing cardiovascular fitness equipment be progressed with Technogym (UK) Ltd and the resultant capital receipt of a minimum of £57,000 be credited to 'Useable Capital Receipts' within the Council's accounts. |
