Making Planning Decisions - Over to the Forum! |
Forum members took part in an exercise designed to raise awareness about how planning decisions were made. The purpose of the exercise was to widen members' appreciation of the issues and challenges faced by planning committees in reaching decisions on contentious and high profile planning applications in the current policy climate. Members considered and debated fictitious planning applications that raised some topical issues often found in and around Tonbridge. In conclusion it was recognised that a measure of shared learning and awareness of various aspects of the planning decision making process had been achieved. The Chairman thanked officers for participating fully in the role playing exercise and for their hard work in making arrangements. Members acknowledged that the evening had been successful, and enjoyable, with areas of concern exposed and fully debated. Forum members were thanked for their willingness to play an active role in the event contributing to its success. Further assistance and guidance on planning issues could be sought from the planning officers if necessary. |
