MATTERS FOR RECOMMENDATION TO THE COUNCIL
AE 05/129 Gaming and Gambling Machines on Alcohol Licensed Premises
The Chief Solicitor reported that, following a change in the law, responsibilities for gaming and gambling on licensed premises were to be transferred to the Council with effect from 24 November, 2005. Members considered in detail the arrangements for dealing with these new powers.

RECOMMENDED: That

(1) the existing delegation to the Chief Solicitor to issue permits under Section 34 of the Gaming Act 1968 be extended to include permits for premises licensed for the sale of alcohol;

(2) the power to make Orders under Section 6 of the Gaming Act 1968 and the grant of permits under Section 16 of the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976 be exercised by the Committee's Panels; and

(3) the amendment of Part 3 of the Council's Constitution be approved.
