Youth Service Review

The report provided an update on the County Council's review of its Youth Service.

Following consideration by the Leisure and Arts Advisory Board, the Cabinet Member for Leisure, Youth and Arts resolved that:
1) the Council continues to liaise with the Kent Youth Service to help define what youth work provision is required at a local level and advise on the allocation of resources for the commissioning process;
2) a meeting between Members of the Borough and County Councils be arranged to consider the County Council's revised proposals for the provision of youth services in the Borough;
3) the representative group of Members formed to consider KCC's Youth Service Review be empowered to continue to represent the Borough Council in future discussions with the County Council;
4) authority be delegated to the Chief Leisure Officer, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Leisure, Youth and Arts, to make a decision on the outcome of the above discussions; and
5) Town and Parish Councils, Voluntary Sector Youth Service Providers, the Local Strategic Partnership and the Youth Forum continue to be consulted on further proposals for the provision of youth services within the Borough.
