Alcohol Control Zones |
The report of the Chief Executive provided an update on progress in relation to the establishment of Alcohol Control Zones in the Borough and proposed the designation of further areas in the light of consultation. Details were given of the responses received in relation to the proposed zones and Inspector Dave Pate attended the meeting and confirmed that Kent Police were supportive of the proposals. Clarification was given of some of the boundaries of the proposed zones and Members emphasised the need to monitor the situation to respond to any displacement of anti-social drinking in public spaces. RECOMMENDED: That an Order pursuant to the Local Authorities (Alcohol Consumption in Designated Public Places) Regulations 2001 be made in respect of those areas set out at Annex 2 to the report as places where restrictions apply to the consumption of alcohol in designated public places subject to the inclusion of the following: The whole of the new development at Holborough and Holborough Park, Brookland Lake and land west of St Benedict Road/Potyns, Snodland. Platt Woods, Borough Green and Platt. Land between St Stephens Street and Priory Street, Tonbridge. *Referred to Cabinet |
