The joint report of the Director of Highways and Transportation and the Director of Planning, Transport and Leisure provided an update on progress with the station forecourt remodelling project. Mr T Darcy, Project Manager for Jacobs, gave a detailed presentation on the preferred design option which would greatly enhance pedestrian safety. Board members raised various points of detailed design and layout which would be examined and, where practicable, incorporated by Jacobs in liaison with the officers of the Borough and County Councils and relevant transport operators. RESOLVED: That the following be commended to the Borough Council Cabinet: endorsement be given to the preferred design option. |

Parking Action Plan Decision Notice D120038MEM |
The report of the Director of Planning, Transport and Leisure set out progress with the implementation of Phase 6a of the Parking Action Plan and highlighted objections received during the statutory consultations to the formal advertising of the on-street traffic regulation order. A supplementary report regarding the investigation of the need to provide waiting restrictions at the main entrance to the Tower Industrial Estate in London Road, Wrotham, was circulated prior to the meeting. RESOLVED: That the following be commended to the Borough Council Cabinet: (1) the next steps', as set out in Section 1.3 to the report, be endorsed; (2) the recommended actions for Phase 6a of the Parking Action Plan, set out at Annexes 1 and 5 to the report, be noted and the restrictions be installed; (3) the recommended actions for Phase 6a of the Parking Action Plan, set out at Annexes 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 to the report, be endorsed and where objections to a proposal have been made, the objectors be advised of the decision regarding endorsement (or otherwise) of that proposal; and (4) the actions set out in the supplementary report be endorsed. |

The report of the Director of Highways and Transportation outlined the County Council's proposals to improve the A20 London Road junction with the B2016 Seven Mile Lane, Wrotham Heath following a series of personal injury crashes. Members asked for various matters to be examined including the highway flooding under the railway bridge, the difficulties of exiting from Ford Lane and whether alternative approaches to the proposed signalled junction could be considered. |

The Director of Highways and Transportation outlined proposals for the planned levels of service for weed control of highway verges during 2012/13. He advised that, following consultation with the Borough Council's Waste Services Manager, consideration would be given to undertaking a second spray of identified hot spots under a local agreement. |

A Common Sense Plan for Safe and Sensible Street Lighting |
The report of the Director of Highways and Transportation outlined the County Council's proposals for reducing energy costs of street lighting. The Board noted that County and Borough Councillors and the town and parish councils would be advised of the process and timescale involved. The Chairman indicated that the Borough Council was willing to provide a forum for debate with the town and parish councils and local stakeholders. |
