Progress Report - Tonbridge Interchange Improvements PDF 132 KB Verbal update to be provided on progress of Tonbridge Station project Minutes: The Principal Transport Planner, KCC, provided a verbal update on progress with the Tonbridge Interchange Improvements Project. An explanation of the technology behind ‘Puffin’ crossings was given and particular reference was made to the installation of ‘yellow box’ markings at the junction with Waterloo Road to deter drivers from entering without a clear exit. The Chairman presented a number of photographs showing the new road layout and puffin crossings at Tonbridge Station and the proposals to improve traffic flow past bus stop G in the High Street which illustrated a number of concerns raised by residents and local Members. In response to these concerns the Principal Transport Manager offered to investigate the visibility of traffic/crossing lights for road users and pedestrians, the possibility of adding audible signals to the puffin crossings and the ‘timing/phasing’ of both the traffic and pedestrian crossing lights. Members asked that a report be submitted to the meeting of the Board to be held on 10 June 2019.
RESOLVED: That the report be received and noted.
