The report of the Director of Planning, Housing and Environmental Health gave an update on the phased approach undertaken to on-street parking management with a focus on the current initiatives. 

 

RESOLVED:  That the following be commended to the Borough Council Cabinet

The programme and actions set out in the report be endorsed.

Tonbridge Town Centre Transport Strategy - Update pdf icon PDF 41 KB

The joint report of the Director of Highways and Transportation and the Director of Planning, Housing and Environmental Health provided an update on progress with the revised Town Centre Transport Strategy for Tonbridge, including the proposed streetscape and traffic management improvements for the lower High Street, the outline designs for which had been endorsed by the Joint Transportation Board on 2  December 2013 following helpful discussion amongst Members.

 

RESOLVED:  That the following be commended to the Borough Council Cabinet

The work to date and the next steps as set out in the report be noted.

B245 London Road Junction with Dry Hill Park Road - Pedestrian Crossing Improvements pdf icon PDF 36 KB

Further to the item submitted to the previous meeting of the Board, the Head of Transportation, Kent Highways, provided an update on action taken to progress the provision of a pedestrian crossing on the B245 London Road junction with Dry Hill Park Road.  The Board welcomed the proposal to provide a Puffin type signal crossing, sited as close to the desire line as possible.  It was noted that the local County Members had offered a financial contribution from the Members Highway Fund budget and that Tonbridge School had offered a financial contribution towards the cost of the crossing. 

 

RESOLVED:  That the proposed way forward, as set out in the report, be endorsed.

Safe and Sensible Street Lighting - Update

Minutes:

The report of the Head of Programmed Works, Kent Highways, provided an update on the County Council’s implementation of various measures to reduce energy costs, carbon dioxide emissions and light pollution associated with street lights.  The Board was reminded that, at its meeting held on 18 March 2013, it had supported a ‘part-night’ operation rather than a trial ‘switch-off’ within the Borough.  In response to a request for further information regarding the implementation of the initiative, officers offered to provide details of the link to the County Council’s interactive website to all members.
